Museums Energy Efficiency & Sustainability In Retrofitted & New Museum Buildings

Objective

- Bringing together nine different innovative retrofitting or new museum projects from all over Europe and representing a variety of types with the support of internationally acclaimed experts in the field of energy efficiency research in order to produce excellent showcases of energy efficient and sustainable museum design;
- Demonstrating on all cases that energy efficient and sustainable museum buildings can fully meet or exceed all the architectural, functional, comfort, control and safety requirements through the application of innovative and intelligent design and integrated features, which have partly been developed under former joule and save research;
- Applying and testing new and innovative technologies in museums and furthering the stata of the art in the fields of architecturally integrated environmental control. Realising total energy saving exceeding 35% (retofit) and 40% and reduction of co2 emissions of over 50% and therby setting a new standard for energy consumption.
