Regional Economic and Technological Intelligence to support Novel Advances for SMEs

Objective

The project will address the need for SMEs to have access to market and economic intelligence relevant to their own business and sector priorities in order to identify new opportunities for innovation and technological development, leading to increased SME and regional competitiveness. Actions will include the establishment of new Economic and Technological Intelligence supply networks in five regions, drawing upon key sources of knowledge and expertise to assist target SMEs in South East UK; Catalan Region of Spain; Umbria region of Italy, Iceland and including a focus on Hungary as an Associated State. Partners will collaborate to provide a new comprehensive shared ETI Knowledge bank, made widely accessible through a specially developed central portal and reflecting both cross-regional and specific sector priorities in the partner regions, including: sustainable business; tourism; chemicals; construction and advanced materials and a shared ICT knowledge base. A new auditing tool will be developed to assess the information needs of individual SMEs relevant to their sector priorities, the results used to further develop the knowledge bases. A programme of ETI seminars and workshops will be organised both sector-specific and focusing on providing specialist support with knowledge management tools and with a the use of SMART technologies, available for wider transfer throughout Europe
