Data mining tools and services for grid computing environments

Objective

Future and emerging complex problem solving environments are characterized by increasing amounts of digital data and rising demands for co-ordinated resource sharing across geographically widely dispersed sites. Next-generation Grid technologies are promising to provide the necessary infrastructure facilitating a seamless sharing of computing resources in such scenarios. Data mining has been recognized as one of the most important information technologies for automating the process of analysing and interpreting the data in modern knowledge industries and high-tech sectors and applications.

Currently there exists no coherent framework for developing and deploying data mining applications on the Grid. The DataMiningGrid project will address this gap by developing generic and sector-independent data mining tools and services for the Grid. A testbed consisting of several applications from a diverse set of sectors and sectors will serve as platform for demonstrating, testing, and promoting the DataMiningGrid. Because of the importance of the developed technologies to a wide range of industrial, scientific, social, and other sectors, it is expected that the results of the DataMiningGrid project will have considerable impact on the quality of life in Europe.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
