A virtual platform in which participants in a meeting are able to communicate and transmit information in real time, independently of specific place, supplier and choice of information bearer (e-meeting platform)

Objective

In existing digital services and systems for meetings and conferences the users are not flexible or mobile. They are tied to one suppliers service and in general restricted to one type of information bearer. Most solutions are so technically advanced, that learning and handling are viewed as obstacles. These solutions are usually costly, therefore not widely used. The SMEs need to, unrestricted by distances and national borders, increase their competitiveness by cooperation. There is also a need to increase efficient co-operation in public institutions and between these and society in general, thereby improving efficiency and reducing labour costs in the public sector. The proposedsolution is meant to help meet these needs. The objective of the project is to create a platform, an easy to use, quick to access and low cost tool, in which participants in a meeting are able to communicate and transmit information in real time The unique aspect here is that the participants can do this independently of specific place, supplier and choice of information bearer. The method of the project is to utilise existing, by users accepted, technologies for communication and then create means to connect these to and through the platform. The project consists of two fundamental parts. One part entails adding softer functions, interfaces and tools to this real time platform. The other part is the technical development of the underlying platform. The proposed solution enables the individual to, attend or run virtual online meetings while exchanging documents, enter discussions and make comments, keep abreast with developments in projects. It could probably contribute to a better environment by reducing the need for business travel. The projects inter-disciplinary approach with a parallel development of user interface and platform and the fact that the project also has an end-user test partner ensures that the timeframe between prototype and marketable product will be short.
