Objective The economic evaluation of the replacement of an outdated ironworks with new coal-based direct reduction ironmaking technology has been completed in a preceding contract (7215.BA/601). The technical work has shown that the basic physical and chemical principles of the CCF process are sound and that all the engineering aspects can be solved. However, the proposed current phase of the project aims to further experiment the longevity and metallurgical efficiency of the cyclone as well as the conditions of linked smelting-reduction operation and scaling-up. This project will be coordinated at the European level as well as with project PP 189.
