Objective The goal of this contract is to continue running an Innovation Relay Centre, acting in and covering the geographical area of the Free State of Saxony. The IRC Saxony consortium does consist of four Technology Transfer Agencies, well distributed over the area covered. It provides high quality services to its clients, particularly assistance to SME's in Trans-national Technology Transfer. 70 signed TTT agreements and 4-signed agreements on utilization of European RTD results are the target for the four-year period under consideration. The services cover all the awareness, contact, assistance, and signed agreement levels. These services are accompanied by the realization of seminars, conferences, technology transfer days, coaching and training sessions, etc. There will be a close co-operation with NCP's and local branch offices of Community business support networks (EIC, BIC). Furthermore, the IRC Saxony participates actively in the IRC network by supplying 172 high quality technology offers (TO) and requests (TR), respectively, from Saxon SME's to the IRC network secretariat Bulletin Board System (BBS) as well as distributing TO/TR from the BBS. The IRC Saxony's staff members will actively contribute to four thematic groups in order to streamline TTT. Staff exchanges with IRC's focused on Medical Technology as well as Biotechnology, IT, and Wood, will bring about the development of new IRC staff skills and initiate TT co-operation with foreign SME's on behalf of the clients of the IRC's involved. There are historically grown and well-established connections between IRC Saxony and the IRC's from Poland, Czech Republic and Lithuania. Thus, a good deal of IRC Saxony's work will focus on common activities with these IRC's, resulting in cross-border and trans-national co-operation, respectively, of SME's and aiming to TTT as well as exchange of good practice and mutual improvement of the strategic and operational capabilities.
