Colouring Geometric Graphs

Objective

Graphs are ubiquitous mathematical structures that model relational information such as computer networks, biochemical pathways, transportation networks, computer flowcharts, social networks, etc. More formally, a `graph' consists of a set of `vertices', and a set of `edges' each of which connects two vertices.

Often a geometric representation of a graph is desirable. For example, a programmer is likely to better understand a computer program if a visually appealing drawing is on hand that represents the flow of information in the program. The overall aim of the proposal is to answer fundamental questions regarding geometric representations of graphs.
