Molecular interactions during infection

Final Activity Report Summary - MIDITRAIN (Molecular interactions during infection)

The ‘Molecular interactions during infection’ (MIDITRAIN) project was a programme for the education of 12 early stage researchers within the field of infection biology. MIDITRAIN provided a platform for qualified research projects and intensive networking possibilities, as well as an intensive training for early stage researchers.

12 highly motivated young researchers from seven different countries were attracted to join the programme. All MIDITRAIN early stage researchers investigated a cutting edge research project in the field of infection biology so as to get more insight into infection processes, and, in particular, to study the molecular interactions between host and pathogen on different levels and investigate the influence of bacterial and other pathogens on the adaptive and innate immune system. 10 publications were in total published in refereed international journals, while an additional three were submitted and 11 were in preparation by the time of the project completion. Moreover, one EU Patent had already been granted and two were pending. 10 PhD theses were finished and the relevant PhD exams had been successfully defended. Finally, 40 talks and 30 posters were presented on international conferences or workshops.

All the project scientific and technological highlights could be found in the following sections of the MIDITRAIN final activity report:

1. Annex 1, summary publications,
2. Annex 2, summary distribution,
3. Annex 3, summary PhD theses, and
4. Annex 4, summary scientific outcome, public for details.
