Training for a chemistry career
ICIQ hosts a training programme for talented postdoctoral chemistry researchers. Administered through the EU-funded project 'ICIQ international postdoctoral mobility programme' (ICIQ-IPMP), the training helps the researchers develop their careers at the Institute. Running between May 2012 and April 2017, the programme offers fellows the opportunity to pursue their own studies under one of several internationally respected group leaders. The programme is open to quality candidates worldwide, on an equal opportunity basis. Evaluation depends on previous research excellence, the research project chosen and mobility requirements. Training also includes key non-scientific career skills. The project expects to publish 4 calls offering an average of 11 positions, with each appointment lasting 2 years. To date, 3 calls have been issued, representing 28 positions and 387 applications in total. Successful candidates from the third set of 114 applicants were set to commence work by the end of 2014. After the first call, the selection committee instituted an online CV form to standardise applications. ICIQ-IPMP funds and supports a training and career development programme for eligible chemistry researchers worldwide.
