Dow AgroSciences has opened a call for expression of interest for R&D collaboration on Plant-Cell-Produced Technologies. All potential partners are invited to a science seminar entitled “Plant-Cell-Produced Technologies: New solutions to existing and emerging threats to healthy living” which will take place on 7 June 2006 in Brussels. The seminar is part of a one day conference on “Innovations in Bioscience for Animal and Human Health.” The aim of the seminar is to explain and discuss the technology behind innovative plant-based products and explore the possibilities for scientific collaboration between Dow AgroSciences and private companies, research institutions, and universities in the EU. The programme of the science seminar on plant-cell technologies is divided into two sessions. The first session will address key bioscience developments in Plant-Cell-Produced Technologies and explain what has been achieved to-date with an example of the recent world’s first regulatory license for a Plant-Cell-Produced vaccine. The second session of the seminar will focus on exploring opportunities for R&D collaboration available under FP7 in developing novel products. Speakers will discuss similarities between animal and human diseases, such as foot and mouth disease and avian influenza, in order to find scientific solutions and reduce health risks.
