Environmental change impacts and environmental technologies - Activities and recent results
The European Commission, DG XII, has recently published a report providing an overview of current activities and recent results of research on environmental change impacts and environmental technologies. This research is being implemented in the broader context of the Environment and Climate research programme. This review is divided into two sections, the first covering environmental change impacts and the second environmental technologies. The following topics are addressed: - Atmospheric changes: . Stratospheric ozone depletion over Europe; . Physico-chemical changes in the troposphere; - Biospheric changes: . Aquatic, terrestrial and coastal ecosystems; . Biodiversity; - Technologies to monitor, protect and rehabilitate the environment; - Technologies for the protection and conservation of European cultural heritage; - Technologies to improve industrial safety; - Technologies and methods for assessing risks to the environment and human health; - Technology stimulation measures and innovation support for SMEs in these two sectors. The report also includes a list of relevant publications in these fields.
