MUSCLE Network of Excellence to present new prototype demos at CeBIT

For the first time, the MUSCLE Network of Excellence (NoE), launched in March 2004 and sponsored by the European Commission, will have a booth at CeBIT in Hanover, the largest IT event worldwide.

As part of its dissemination activities, the NoE will present the multimedia expertise of its different teams through highly visual demonstrations and videos. Some live demos will for instance allow visitors to play around with Maps of Music using PlaySOM, listening to them, exploring musical landscapes, and even creating maps of their own. They will also feature PocketSOMPlayer for mobile devices (TU-Wien), 3D-virtual Worlds presenting SOMs (EC3) and Video-Clip Copy Detection (INRIA). Other presentations will include Shaping 3D Multimedia Environments, Real-Time Audio-Visual Automatic Speech Recognition Demonstrator, Movie Summarization and Skimming Demonstrator, Dynamic Texture Detection, Image Segmentation with Shape Priors, etc. MUSCLE aims at establishing and fostering closer collaboration between research groups in multimedia data mining and machine learning. The Network integrates the expertise of over forty research groups working on image and video processing, speech and text analysis, statistics and machine learning. The goal is to explore the full potential of statistical learning and cross-modal interaction for the (semi-)automatic generation of robust meta-data with high semantic value for multimedia documents. The Network has launched several showcasing projects, whose results will be presented by the MUSCLE community throughout 2007. The MUSCLE booth at CeBIT will be located in Hall 9, Stand A14/1, future parc. http://www.muscle-noe.org/(se abrirá en una nueva ventana) Contact: Andreas Rauber Vienna University of Technology Tel.: +43 1 58801 18826 or 43 1 58801 18801 email : rauber@ifs.tuwien.ac.at
