Studies on the environmental impact of farming

In order to identify means of reducing the environmental impact of certain farming practices in the EU, the European Commission has published invitations to tender for five studies. Each study should first present in detail the environmental impact (both positive and negative) of the activity in question, and then make practical suggestions for ways to lessen environmental problems identified. The studies should look at the environmental impact of the following activities in the EU: - Maize cultivation (ref. XI/ETU/980065); - Arable crop production (ref. XI/ETU/980066); - Olive oil production (ref. XI/ETU/980067); - Dairy production (ref. XI/ETU/980068); - Irrigation (ref. XI/ETU/980069). Each study should be completed within 12 months.
