Pricing telecommunication services in the EU

The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender for the production of annual reports, over a period of three years, on the prices of telecommunications in the EU.

The scope of services covered should include the fixed telephone service, leased circuits, public mobile services and some additional services such as basic ISDN and prices for Internet access. These annual reports should cover the years 1998, 1999 and 2000.

In addition, they should cover the issue of affordability and the longer term evolution of prices by continuing and building on the tariff baskets established in the Commission's first monitoring report on universal service in the telecommunications sector.
