The European Commission, DG III, is currently inviting tenders for a project to provide the Commission with an overview of Information Society actions and projects in Central and Eastern European countries (CEECs) and the non-EU Mediterranean countries. This will form part of the second phase of the project on the European Survey of the Information Society.

The project will include the following information:

- A questionnaire-based inventory of Information Society projects in these countries;
- An overview of the major actions taken for the promotion and launching of the Information Society;
- An overview of existing major public or private network facilities with a potential for use in Information Society applications;
- The compilation of a 'Who's who' in the Information Society;
- Promotion of the project in the countries concerned;
- Management support activities for the follow-up and running of the project.

The project will be carried out in 25 separate lots, one for each of the national countries and a further lot for the co-ordination activities of the project.
