In order to realise the potential for reducing emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) arising from the use of decorative paints and varnishes for professional and non-professional use, the European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for a study. The study will cover the following objectives: - To present a synthesis of the relevant elements characterising the decorative paints and varnishes sector; - To explore at a technical level the possibilities for limiting the concentration of organic solvents in products used in this sector; - To analyse the environmental and economic impact of such regulatory measures. The contract will last for a period of twelve months. For further information, please contact: European Commission DG XI - Environment, nuclear safety and civil protection Mr. B.
