"Implementing telework", a new handbook designed to advise on setting up and running telework arrangements has just been published. The guide has been developed by the Models of Industrial Relations in Telework Innovation (MIRTI) project, funded by the EU's Telematics Applications programme. The handbook, which is only available in an electronic (CD-ROM or Internet) version, provides information for all potential users, whether employees, freelancers, large companies, SMEs or local initiatives. Designed to be user-friendly, the book is built around case studies of individual teleworkers' situations, and actual agreements negotiated between employers and workers' representatives. Users can follow the handbook step by step through the process of setting up as a teleworker, with pitfalls highlighted and important issues discussed in depth. From whatever situation, the reader will be able to find articles tailored to his or her needs. Specific articles also address the needs of disabled workers in telework, and the issues in industrial relations raised by telework.
