The European STEP Centres Network (ESCN) is a project funded within the framework of the EU's RTD programme in the field of Information Technologies (ESPRIT). The project will end in September 1999 and to ensure participation is as wide as possible, the project coordinators are currently promoting the services available within the project. The aim is to disseminate information on the practical application of STEP technology to European research projects and SMEs. This will be achieved through the establishment and execution of a STEP/PDT Training and Technology Transfer (TTT) programme, a necessary building block to make STEP a sustainable competitive advantage for European industry. This service is offered free of charge to all EU-funded projects. The ESCN project is implemented through the following objectives: - To train teams of professionals from European projects and SMEs in their use and further development of STEP/PDT; - To execute dissemination and awareness activities in order to promote the implementation of STEP/PDT in an industrial context; - To increase the participation of European STEP centres in the development and industrial deployment of STEP/PDT as consultants. The services offered include: - Analysis of business processes within the scope of the project; - Definition and review of product data models based on international PDT standards; - Support in areas of system integration and implementation of PDT training seminars.
