Management Training for Scientists – An offer to European life science researchers

Excellent professional qualifications are not enough to start a successful scientific career. Scientists also need experience in acquiring and managing their research projects. However, such skills are rarely subjects of science curricula. This lack of training frequently leads to frustration and large losses of time and money when scientists start their independent careers as group leaders.

As a contribution to solving this problem, the Steinbeis Team Northeast, ProSciencia-Beratungs-GmbH and ScanBalt network offer a Management Training Week for life science researchers on May 5th to 9th 2008 in Berlin (Germany). The training week is part of the EU funded project TRAYSS PRIME. During the week participants will learn basic skills in project management, management of intellectual property and exploitation of research results and acquisition of EU funding. In addition, soft skill topics such as self management and conflict management will be covered and bioethical issues discussed with experts. Courses will include extensive hands-on exercises and will be held by international experts from industry, consulting and management companies as well as EU funding experts. Accommodation and catering is provided for a nominal fee.
