EEC/EFTA: Exchange of information concerning technical regulations
In a Decision dated 24 September 1990 the Council of the European Communities approved an Agreement signed on 19 December 1989, between the EEC and the EFTA countries laying down a procedure for the exchange of information in the field of technical regulations. Under the terms of the Agreement, the Community is required to notify EFTA Member States of the draft technical regulations notified to it by its Member States, whereas EFTA Member States shall likewise notify the Community of the draft technical regulations notified within EFTA. The Contracting Parties shall, within the framework of the established cooperation between experts of the Community and the EFTA Member States in the field of technical barriers to trade, hold regular consultations both to ensure the satisfactory functioning of the procedure and to exchange views on the comments which have been submitted by any Contracting Party concerning a draft technical regulation. The text of the Agreement is attached to the Council Decision.
