Three awards in Photonics!
The Optical Society of America (OSA) has selected as their 2008 OSA Advocate of Optics Commissioner Viviane Reding for her vision in promoting the area of photonics and Thierry Van der Pyl in recognition for his leadership of the Photonics Unit. This is the first time the award is given to two Europeans. The awards were presented on Wednesday 19th March at the Commissioner's office. Commissioner Reding thanks and supports everyone in the unit of photonics as their hard work contributes greatly to this award. In addition, Henri Rajbenbach, will receive the SPIE Europe recognition award for his part in promoting optics and optoelectronics in the previous IST programmes. The award will be presented at the plenary session of Photonics Europe conference in Strasburg on 7th April 2008.
