Social Science and Humanities meet Information and Communication Science

The European Commission’s Enterprise Europe Network and the EU Project PLATON+ invite research organizations from the fields of Social Science, Humanities and Information and Communication Science to participate in the international brokerage event CeBIT Future Match. The event will take place at the CeBIT in Hanover, 3 ? 8 March 2009 (Hall 9, Stand A56).

The international brokerage event Future Match has been organized at the foremost Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) exhibition, the CeBIT, since 1999. This Enterprise Europe Network event literally brings together all who are interested in establishing new cross?border contacts for future collaboration. Enterprises, universities and research organizations are offered the rare opportunity to participate in face?to?face meetings to lay the foundations for interdisciplinary and cross?sector co?operations arranged before the gates of the CeBIT exhibition are opened. The European Project PLATON+ supports this year’s FUTURE MATCH to pave the way for Social Science and Humanities (SSH) to undertake interdisciplinary co?operations. Scientists from the Social Sciences or Humanities are invited to register and fill in their co?operation profiles on the FUTURE MATCH webpage (www.futurematch.cebit.de) by 4 February 2009. Apart from ICT and SSH, participants in the FUTURE MATCH event also stem from the research fields of Security and Life Science. Profiles of all the registered participants are available online at http://www.futurematch.cebit.de/p_cat_tech.php?q=&x=8&y=9. If you have any queries, please contact the PLATON+ Team. FUTURE MATCH 2009 is free of charge. IMPORTANT: When registering, please check the box ‘socio?economic ICT research’ and choose ‘PLATON+’ as the assisting organization. Background information PLATON+ is an EU?funded project aiming at: (1) communicating socio?economic research results and assets to policy makers, Civil Society Organizations and business communities throughout Europe, and (2) showing ways of collaboration and bringing together socio?economic researchers and researchers from other disciplines. In the frame of the PLATON+ project, the ICT work programmes of the European Framework?Programmes six and seven have been analyzed and the potential for interdisciplinary co?operations explored. The outcome of these analyses has been summarized for the Policy Brief ‘The role of socio?economic research in the Information Communication Technologies (ICT) research domain’, available for download on the project website: http://www.platonplus.net/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=92&&Itemid=99999999
