Response to Reactor Safety call
A total of 107 proposals for concerted actions were received in response to the December 1991 call for participation in Area 2 (Reactor Safety) of the specific programme of research and education in the field of nuclear fission safety, 1990-1994. After evaluation by independent experts, 54 of the proposals were retained, grouped to form eight projects. The competent advisory committee has also been consulted and has given a positive advice. The eight projects, which have now been submitted to the Commission for approval, include: Core degradation; hydrogen; molten fuel coolant interaction; reactor pressure vessel; molten core concrete interaction; source term; containment; accident management.
