Progress report on the Educational Multimedia Taskforce joint call for proposals
A progress report on the activities undertaken by the Educational Multimedia Taskforce during the second quarter of 1998 is now available. The report presents the results of a joint call for proposals launched in December 1996, resulting in the selection of 46 projects, the first of which got underway at the beginning of 1998. The Multimedia Task Force was set up in 1995, with the aim of strengthening the ties between European research and industry and encouraging innovation in the education and vocational training sectors. The long-term aim is to enable the Union to establish a firm position on job-creating growth markets, while giving Europeans better access to life-long training. A call for proposals launched within the framework of the Taskforce involved a total of six programmes, including the Telematics Applications programme and the TEN-Telecom programme, the ESPRIT programme for Information Technologies, the Targeted Socio-Economic Research programme (TSER), as well as SOCRATES and LEONARDO DA VINCI in the field of education. The report gives details of participation in the project, the funding allocated and the rationale behind the call.
