Proceedings of symposium on applied agro-meteorology and agro-climatology
The proceedings of an international symposium on applied agro-meteorology and agro-climatology, held in Volos, Greece, from 24 to 26 April 1996, have recently been published. The symposium was funded within the cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research (COST) initiative, and brought together those involved the various COST Actions on agro-meteorology. The timing of the symposium corresponded to the mid-term of three specific actions in agro-meteorology: - Action 77: the application of remote sensing in agro-meteorology; - Action 79: integration of data and methods in agro-climatology; - Action 711: operational applications of meteorology to agriculture. The symposium, which brought together 206 participants from 29 different countries, served as a forum for presenting new results, discussing various aspects of applied agro-meteorology and agro-climatology and applied research needs within selected themes. The publication contains the papers presented during the conference, under the following session headings: - Climate variability and change; - Remote sensing in agro-meteorology; - Specific modelling; - Data integration; - Crop yield modelling; - Regional agro-climatology; - Agricultural hazards.
