LRI Innovative Science Award: 100,000 Euros for young researcher on exposure to environmental factors

The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) is looking to reward an early career scientist for groundbreaking research project on exposure to multiple environmental factors.

The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) is inviting young scientists to apply for the 5th LRI* Innovative Science Award, which this year addresses the much-debated issue of exposure to multiple environmental factors. The 100,000 euro contest is open until 19 March 2010 to researchers from any discipline. Exposure assessment is a complex scientific challenge which needs innovative ideas and new approaches to boost understanding and acceptance in industry and society as a whole. “Turning the increasing amount of information into knowledge to ensure public acceptance and assess innovative approaches to Europe’s societal challenges, is central to LRI’s work”, says Gernot Klotz, Head of Cefic Research & Innovation. “We are looking for Europe’s young researchers with the best ideas in exposure sciences and to reward their innovative spirit”, Klotz says. “Equally, we are keen to ensure that graduates, students and creative people come up with innovative ideas and solutions to help face current and future societal challenges”. Partners of the 2010 LRI Innovative Science Award are the Association of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology (EUROTOX), the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) and the International Society of Exposure Sciences (ISES), with Chemical Week as media partner. The panel of judges will consist of eminent scientists from across Europe. More details of the award and how to apply: http://www.cefic-lri.org(se abrirá en una nueva ventana)
