Call for proposals-Announcing major research programme in assistive technologies for intellectual disabilities and autism DOCTRID is coordinating a €9M Marie Curie collaborative research programme called ASSISTID to develop Assistive Technologies for Intellectual Disability and Autism. The first call for fellows opened on September 1st, 2014. DOCTRID is coordinating a €9M Marie Curie collaborative research programme called ASSISTID http://www.assistid.eu to develop Assistive Technologies for Intellectual Disability and Autism and is cofunded by the European Commission and the Irish charity RESPECT. ASSISTID involves all of the universities on the island of Ireland, two Institutes of Technology and two US partners, Michigan State University and University of Massachusetts Medical School. It is the largest programme of its kind in Europe and will train 40 experienced researchers in the skills necessary to make a difference in the lives of people with autism and intellectual disability (ID) through improved communication, social inclusion and education. This is the first time a network of multidisciplinary researchers have come together on this scale to collaborate and develop assistive technologies for those with autism and ID. The first call for fellows opened on September 1st and is hoping to attract top quality international researchers from a broad range of disciplines including behaviour analysis, rehabilitation, computer science and engineering, policy, ethics and communication. It is a fantastic opportunity for researchers to obtain expert training as a prestigious Marie Curie Fellow, experience international mobility and to learn the skills to become leaders in research, practice and policy.
