Joining steel to sheet materials
The European Commission, Directorate General XII, has recently published a series of reports on properties and in-service performance in the field of technical steel research. One of the reports in the series is entitled, "Joining of steel to different sheet materials and product performance evaluation". This describes experimental work performed between July 1993 and June 1996 within the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) project 'dissimilar joints with steel sheet'. The authors of the report conclude there are a number of joining techniques available for joining steel to other metals, and that the selection of any particular technique will depend on the strength and performance requirements of the end application.
