Injectant behaviour can be controlled
The European Commission, Directorate General XII, has recently published a report entitled "Parameters controlling injectant behaviour: reduction of iron ores". The publication is one in a series of reports on technical steel research. It is the final report of a project which aimed to develop a mathematical model to study fuel injection, particularly of coal, but also of iron ore, into a blast furnace. The report gives details of this model's structure, the results of the researchers' studies on coal injection and iron-ore injection, and the conclusions they have drawn. The report particularly highlights a need for further research into the behaviour of iron ore in the raceway of blast furnaces.
