The report of the seminar on "Employment and Perspectives on Environmental Engineering in Europe", held in Hamburg from 24 to 26 September 1998 is now available. The event was organised by TuTech, the technology transfer agency of the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, in liaison with the European Commission, DG XI. The event was aimed at improving knowledge of the dynamics of the employment market as a whole and of the environment sector in particular. The seminar was attended by over 30 experts from 18 countries. The report contains the technical papers and the summary of discussions from the conference. It documents on-going initiatives in environmental engineering and outline areas most in need of attention. This seminar was hailed, in the report, as the first step towards identifying ways of maximising the benefits of environmental engineering for the environment and the economy.
