Three calls for proposals were issued in July 1992 by the strategic programme for innovation and technology transfer (SPRINT), 1989-1993. They concerned the implementation of measures to accompany SPRINT support for some 300 transnational networks of organizations (chambers of commerce and industry, research institutes, consultants, regional technology advisory centres). The calls (closing date 30 October 1992) covered three SPRINT strands: - Identification and dissemination of best practice within SPRINT networks. 38 proposals involving 118 organizations were received. - Transnational technology brokerage meetings: 18 proposals from a total of 60 organizations were presented in response to the call, aimed at introducing companies to technology brokerage and liaison services located in other Member States, leading to technical cooperation between firms in different Member States. - Transnational investment fora: This strand received 8 proposals involving 28 organizations. The aim of the fora is to introduce to financiers, notably venture capitalists, innovative small and medium-sized companies from several Member States as opportunities for investment. The fora may also be attended by large multinational companies looking for corporate venture opportunities. The selection of successful proposals will be completed and contract negotiations carried out early in 1993.
