"Fit for Health" is a European initiative designed to sustainably enhance the participation of European small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Calls for Proposals under the Health theme of the 7th EU Framework Programme (FP7).

"Fit for Health" is a European initiative designed to sustainably enhance the participation of European small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Calls for Proposals under the Health theme of the 7th EU Framework Programme (FP7). Focusing on research-intensive, high technology SMEs, the project offers targeted support measures covering the entire innovation pipeline of the Health sector. In the upcoming months “Fit for Health” organises a number of activities to support researchers from SMEs and Academia. “Fit for Health” - International Training Workshop for Negotiation & Project Management in FP7 -– 11 May 2011 - Brussels, Belgium “Fit for Health” organised an international training workshop addressing new coordinators of FP7 Health projects. This training was combined with the information event organised by the European Commission for coordinators who have successfully submitted project proposals for the last two-stage Health Call (“Coordinator’s Day”). It took place the day after the “Coordinators Day” and complemented the information provided by the EC, providing additional presentations on grant negotiation and project management. During this one-day training “Fit for Health” offered information on the challenges of negotiating the grant and consortium agreement – the basis for a successful project start and smooth implementation. In the second part, the focus was on project implementation and management. The Coordinators got an insight into available tools, the procedure of project reporting and the various aspects of project management, including IPR issues. The training was given by members of the “Fit for Health” consortium with extensive theoretical knowledge and practical experience for negotiations and collaborative project management. It was complemented by a presentation of Mr. Eduardo de Oliveira from the European Commission, EC Audit unit, who gave insights into audits by the EC and the EU Court of Auditors. More information on the event and the Agenda can be found here. FP7 Health Research Partnering Event – 10 June 2011 - Brussels, Belgium Shortly before the official publication of the 2012 Health Calls for Proposals, the EC is organising an Open Information Day in order to convey first-hand information on the novelties in the planning of the new Work Programme to researchers from SMEs and academia (for more information on this event, please visit http://ec.europa.eu/research/health/events-05_en.html(opens in new window)). This event will take place on 9 June 2011 in Brussels. The following day (10 June 2011), the projects "Fit for Health" and "Health-NCP-Net" will jointly organise an FP7 Partnering event. This Partnering event will be dedicated to consortium building. The main part of the day will be dedicated to bilateral meetings between persons interested in the same call areas. In the first part of the meeting information will be provided on what makes a good consortium. Researchers from SMEs and academia interested in SME-targeted topics and those from countries outside Europe will be given the opportunity to present their project ideas in 5-minute presentations. Bilateral meetings will be arranged automatically by a sophisticated, user-friendly match-making tool following expression of interests in specific call areas by participants. Additionally to bilateral meetings among potential project partners, participants will have the option to meet with representatives of other support initiatives (such as the “KAPPA-Health” and “Access4EU” projects) and members of the organising projects for personalised support and information. More information on the event and the Agenda can be found here. International Training Workshop for FP7-Health Applicants - 21 June 2011 – Athens, Greece “Fit for Health” is organising a free of charge full-day training event tailored to applicants of the upcoming FP7-Health-2012 Calls on 21 June 2011, in Athens.
