INBIOSA Project newsletter

INBIOSA newsletter: 1st of April – 30th of June

INBIOSA Workshops and Conference Two workshops and the annual conference on Integral Biomathics have been prepared during this period: • iBioMath 2011 – Am: Workshop on Integral Biomathics at the International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, IJCNN 2011, San Jose, California, 4 August, 2011. (For more details: s. www.inbiosa.eu) • iBioMath 2011 – Eu: Workshop on Integral Biomathics at the European Conference on Artificial Life, ECAL 2011 Conference, Paris , 12 August 2011. (For more details: s. www.inbiosa.eu) • First Annual Conference on Integral Biomathics ACIB 2011, Stirling University, Scotland, 29-31 August 2011. (For more details: www.inbiosa.eu) ACIB 2011 is going to address alternatives to von Neumann/Turing approaches to biological information processing. Besides, the INBIOSA project was presented at FET 11 Conference in Budapest, 4-6 May, 2011. Draft of the INBIOSA White Paper The work on the White Paper draft with members of the Scientific Advisory Board has started. The document title is: STEPPING BEYOND THE NEWTONIAN PARADIGM IN BIOLOGY: Accelerating the Discovery of the Biological Imperatives of a Computational Model of Life The focus of the transformative research is biology-centric. The key leverageable idea is that careful extension of the science of living systems can be more effectively applied to modern problems than the prevailing paradigm. That paradigm is extended from abstractions in physics. While they have some universal application, and computational advantages, their use need not be the default. A new set of abstractions from biology can now be similarly extended. This is made possible by new formal tools to understand abstraction and enable computability. INBIOSA meeting in Brussels Тhe current progress of the INBIOSA project was presented on 8th of June in Brussels in a meeting with the interested officers at DG INFSO and the broad EC FET forum.
