A website should be developed as a focal point for research and development within the field of electronic commerce, as decided on 27 January 1999 at a meeting in Brussels on European electronic commerce projects. This "kick-off" meeting of the cluster on Electronic Management and Trading of Intellectual Property was intended to help support the industrial and commercial take-up of the European Commission's project results. The EC-CLUSTER should identify solutions for technological, payment, security, business models and process-related issues and their impact on projects. It should also promote the projects to a larger audience and increase awareness of their achievements. The meeting mainly focused on the brokerage services and partnership building, but it was also agreed that a website with discussion groups should be established, as well as a database, to allow projects and individuals to register themselves to increase the awareness of e-commerce. The website will be likened to the CORDIS website.
