EXCITING co-organised workshop on European and Chinese perspectives on 5G and IoT during the Global IoT Summit / IoT Week 2018 in Bilbao

The EXCITING and F-INTEROP projects jointly organised a workshop on European and Chinese perspectives on 5G and IoT during the Global IoT Summit / IoT Week 2018 in Bilbao.

The EXCITING and F-INTEROP projects jointly organised a workshop on European and Chinese perspectives on 5G and IoT (Internet of Things). The workshop was held during the Global IoT Summit / IoT Week 2018, which took place in Bilbao (Spain) between June 4 and 7, 2018. The workshop, held on June 4, addressed the current state of play, challenges and opportunities related to 5G and IoT, including in the domains of interoperability and standardisation. Current and planned cooperation efforts between Europe and China in these areas were discussed, in particular through the implementation of large-scale pilot projects (LSPs). The white papers being developed in the EXCITING project were presented as well as the PANORAMA tool (https://panorama.euchina-iot5g.eu/exciting(se abrirá en una nueva ventana)) which will contribute to future cooperation opportunities between the EU and China. The workshop included a number of presentations from people involved in the EXCITING project, including Yuming Ge (CAICT), Yang Yang (WICO), Georgios Karagiannis (Huawei / AIOTI), Latif Ladid (University of Luxembourg), Kai Zhang (Martel), Serge Fdida and Andrea (University of Sorbonne) and Samuel Almeida (SPI). Franck Boissière of the European Commission also spoke at the workshop. The EXCTING project (https://euchina-iot5g.eu/(se abrirá en una nueva ventana)) is a Coordination and Support Action funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Programme and by the Chinese and Swiss governments. The consortium is made up of 14 partners, including European and Chinese organisations. The project started in November 2016 and ends in October 2018. The IoT Week (https://iotweek.org/(se abrirá en una nueva ventana)) event is one of the most important conferences in the Internet of Things domain. Since 2011 it is organised annually by the IoT Forum and mobilises research centres, industry representatives, SMEs, developers and policymakers, including the European Commission.
