CORDIS attends INNOVEIT, the annual forum of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)

CORDIS was proudly present at the European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s (EIT) annual forum and awards ceremony for top European entrepreneurs in Budapest last week.

More than 350 innovators gathered in Budapest on 4 October 2018 for the EIT’s annual Innovation Forum, INNOVEIT(opens in new window), to discuss the EIT’s unique role in driving innovation across Europe and to celebrate the EIT Awards. The EIT, funded through Horizon 2020, is the EU’s largest, most connected innovation ecosystem with more than 1 000 excellent partners, including many of Europe’s leading companies, universities and research centres. This year’s forum was also marking ten since years since the EIT’s foundation and due to its commitment to research collaboration, the fostering of innovation and the dissemination of its entrepreneurs’ exciting results and discoveries, CORDIS was very happy to be there and join the celebration. Inspirational annual awards ceremony The Forum also hosted the annual EIT Awards ceremony, celebrating Europe’s most talented entrepreneurs and innovators. In a heart-felt and extremely inspiring ceremony, nominees had to pitch their innovations and products to the entire audience in a tight three-minute schedule. Some of the pitches that most wowed your CORDIS team included one that described a peptide-based solution that promises to be a revolutionary new treatment option for cancer patients, and another that has developed a rapid, portable and affordable sensor to improve food safety (which won the inaugural EIT Woman Award, created to recognise outstanding women innovators). Working for strong future cooperation As many of our readers will know, CORDIS’ dedicated mission is to disseminate and highlight the most ground-breaking, innovative and exciting EU-funded research results and thus shares many of the same values and ambitions that drive the EIT. With the proposed launch of the next EU framework programme, Horizon Europe, the EIT will be an integral component of the new initiative. And as CORDIS embarks on new and exciting initiatives to spread the word farther and faster on EU-funded results to the audiences that matter, we hope to increase our cooperation and collaboration with our EIT colleagues – and after what we saw on 4 October at the INNOVEIT Forum, we truly believe that many of our readers (particularly start-ups, SMEs and ambitious young researchers) could and should know more about the amazing work the EIT does in promoting European innovation. So, watch this space! And for more information on the EIT, please see: Official website of the EIT(opens in new window)
