Parliament endorses modernization of North Korean nuclear power stations
Members of the European Parliament voted, on 23 March 1999, to endorse an agreement to pay for the modernization of nuclear power stations in North Korea through the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organisation (KEDO), and a proposal to block funds earmarked for 1999 was deleted. The action was taken in the light of the European Commission's agreement to involve Parliament in all future Euratom agreements.
