The European Commission has proposed an Additional Protocol to the EEC/Cyprus Association Agreement to associate Cyprus with the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5) for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration (1998-2002).

The Commission submitted the original proposal on 15 February 1999 and calls for a Council Decision on the matter.
