Report covers 64 Information Engineering projects
In the last four years, the European Commission has supported 64 projects in Information Engineering, the implementation of which is covered in a report "Information Engineering - Projects and Perspectives 1994 - 1998" from the Telematics Application Programme. Information Engineering is an important issue for the Commission and played a significant role in the Fourth Framework Programme, running between 1994 and 1998. Activities within this area will continue as an essential part of the recently launched Fifth Framework Programme (FP5), which will focus on the creation and implementation of a User-friendly Information Society. The Commission believes that the creation of the Information Society will make a significant contribution to growth and job creation within Europe and that its associated technologies will eventually permeate every industrial activity as well as more generally in society. The publication covers the following areas within the field of Information Engineering: - New information engineering projects; - Multimedia publishing & distribution; - Information management & retrieval; - Personalized content delivery; - Business, manufacturing & commerce; - Infrastructure & support; - Completed projects. It also gives full contact details of the project organizers.
