Two Council Decisions of 21.12.1992 concern the conclusion of Agreements between the European Economic Community and, respectively, the Republic of Estonia (92/601/EEC) and the Republic of Latvia (92/602/EEC) on trade and commercial and economic cooperation. The Contracting Parties shall accord each other most-favoured-nation status in matters regarding trade and commercial cooperation. In the context of economic cooperation, a number of RTD-related subjects (encouragement of scientific and technical progress) are specified in the texts. Sectors include, inter alia: - Science and technology in areas of mutual interest; - Telecommunications; - Energy; - Environmental protection and the management of natural resources; - Transport; - Health. - Development of human resources and training. The Agreement is to enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date of notification by the Contracting Parties of the completion of the necessary legal procedures. In the case of Latvia this date will be 1 February 1993.
