Renewable energy titles on CD-ROM
LIOR has recently launched two new tiles in its renewable energy series of CD-ROMs on "Solutions for the environment": - Biomass combustion (Energy from biomass and wood) - version 1.0; - Biogas from waste and waste water treatment - version 2.0. The CD-ROMs are useful information resource tools, produced with the support of the European Commission, and provide information for all user levels. They provide answers to key questions such as: - What is biogas or biomass? Where is it found? - Which technologies are available and are they profitable? - What can these technologies be used for? - How do we develop a project? - Who could help us? - Where can we find some examples of projects? - What does it cost to build a plant? What is the pay-back time? - Can we get a subsidy or a grant? Where from? - What legislation and policies apply to these areas? LIOR collects information with the assistance of international senior experts and then transforms this technical and scientific data to make it more concise and easy to access, including graphics and illustrations. It aims to raise public awareness of environmental issues and their solutions and to encourage the active participation of decision-makers. LIOR is also holding an energy and environment information day in London on 11 June 1999, for representatives of local authorities, local schools, colleges and universities, business and trade associations and the general public.
