A report on "Technology and the Elderly", commissioned by the FAST programme and published with the support of DG XIII of the CEC, sets out to examine the needs of the elderly living in the community and to explore the role of technology in meeting these needs. A constructive technology assessment approach is adopted in assessing the potential of technologies to support the independence of the elderly in the community care context.
