Eureka publishes 1998 annual report
Eureka, the European initiative for industrial collaboration and innovation launched in 1985, has recently published its annual report for 1998. The report covers Eureka's activities and achievements in 1998, during which it saw the first results of the implementation of new guidelines for encouraging strategic projects. The organisation also held brokerage events across the world, from Asia to Norway, Israel to Poland, and began preparations for Eureka's next Medium Term Plan for 2000 to 2004. Eureka's membership has long since increased from the 17 members it began with in the 1980s, to 26, including several Central and Eastern European countries, as well as Turkey, which took over the Eureka chair from Portugal in June 1998. Eureka members will shortly be meeting to discuss future development scenarios for the initiative at the Ministerial Conference being held in Istanbul on 29 June 1999.
