Israel is now connected to the pan-European research network TEN-155. The Israel Internet-2 network, an extension of the Israeli Inter-University Computational Centre (IUCC), the national university network of Israel, will mainly serve research and development projects. The AMCHBA/IUCC is the first southern Mediterranean university network to join the 22 European national university networks connected to TEN-155. The connection is the direct result of the Q-MED project, which has been co-funded under the European Union's Telematics Applications programme, and is particularly concerned with connecting the research and development communities of Israel and Cyprus to TEN-155. The Q-MED consortium consists of the national university networks of Israel, Italy, Greece, and the University of Cyprus, with DANTE as the coordinating partner. DANTE organises advanced data networking services for the European research community.
