The Commission of the European Communities, Directorate-General XIII, issues an open invitation to tender for the training of information specialists in the Less Favoured Regions (LFRs) of the European Communities. Following Council Decision 91/691/EEC of 12.12.1991 adopting the IMPACT 2 programme for the establishment of and internal information services market, the Commission will support the development of a structure for information in the LFRs. As a preliminary initiative, the Commission invites tenders for the provision of vocational training of information service specialists in the LFRs. These, after having been trained, can assist information providers in these regions (potential database producers and/or information service providers). Therefore a contractor to perform the following tasks is sought: - Analysis of the training needs in the LFRs and selection of participants; - Definition of vocational training requirements; - Design and execution of a course: - Evaluation of the initiative. To define a common base of training needs, the contractor is asked to hold a workshop to which some 25-30 participants should be invited from educational establishments and information providers in the LFRs and the more developed regions, to ensure that both requirements and existing experience may be incorporated into the project. Following definition of requirements, the contractor will design and execute a course (estimated to be of 9 months duration), followed by an evaluation. Detailed tender documents, including technical aspects plus terms and conditions, are available from: Commission of the European Communities Directorate-General for Information Technologies and Industries, and Telecommunications, DG XIII/E-1 Attn.
