An assessment of the impact of emerging technologies on the activity and economy of the Member States of the European Community beyond the year 1992 is set out in a 158-page publication entitled "Technology and the Future of Europe", an independent report made by external experts and published with the support of the Commission. The book aims to provide a reasoned view as to how the different technologies will have acted in our Community, and the people in it, by the end of the century. As the economic strength of the Community is the benefit enjoyed by its people, consideration is not limited to technology, but also extends to many socio-economic implications.
