The European Commission, DG XXII, has recently published an invitation to tender for a study aimed at providing qualitative and quantitative data on requirements concerning the development of teaching and language learning tools in the European Union. The study should highlight the areas where Community action could be instrumental in meeting the requirements identified. It must also provide a reference framework defining the characteristics of the relevant materials, establish the needs of students, and identify requirements concerning the development of teaching tools. Additionally, it must cover all the eligible languages in the Socrates - Lingua programme.
