Setting priorities for global research data sharing at the Research Data Alliance Plenary Meeting
The Research Data Alliance (https://www.rd-alliance.org(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)) (RDA) brings together a diverse community of data scientists, librarians, computer scientists, and domain scientists coming from both the public and private sector with one common goal – to remove the barriers to data sharing and reuse. It is a global member based alliance with over 4,500 members coming from 115 countries. RDA members work together in self formed focused Working groups and exploratory Interest Groups, looking at a range of technical and social challenges to data sharing. Examples of the many concrete outputs from RDA groups include Legal Interoperability guidelines related to the intellectual property of data, 23 things: Libraries for Research data with practical guidance on how to incorporate research data management into the practice of librarianship. RDA organises Plenary meetings (https://www.rd-alliance.org/plenaries(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)) working events, built around the breakout sessions of the RDA Working, Interest and Birds of a Feather Groups every six months. The 9th RDA Plenary Meeting will take place in Barcelona, 5 to 7 April 2017. Co-organized by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center-Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) (https://www.bsc.es/(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)) with the support of RDA Europe, the 9th RDA Plenary (https://www.rd-alliance.org/plenaries/rda-ninth-plenary-meeting-barcelona(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)) revolves around the theme of “Data Infrastructures for Open Science”. What should be the research data sharing priority? Have your say! Is there a topic that you feel should be a priority for the global research data sharing agenda? Make sure you submit an application for a “Birds of a Feather” (https://www.rd-alliance.org/9th-plenary-bof-meeting-application-form(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)) session exploring emerging data sharing topics and new potential working or interest group themes. This is the first step for putting your data challenge on the global research data sharing agenda. Are the RDA Groups and Plenary meetings relevant for you? Any RDA member may initiate or join a Working, Interest or Birds of a Feather group (https://www.rd-alliance.org/creating-and-managing-rda-groups.html(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)). To become a member of the RDA, individuals can register, free of charge, with the RDA online community(https://www.rd-alliance.org/user/register(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)) and confirm their support for the RDA Guiding Principles (https://www.rd-alliance.org/get-involved.html(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)). It is open to anyone interested in contributing to the advancement of data-sharing and data-driven research. __________________________________________________________________________ For more information visit Research Data Alliance https://www.rd-alliance.org(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre) or contact the RDA Secretariat at enquiries@rd-alliance.org RDA 9th Plenary Call for Sessions webpage https://www.rd-alliance.org/plenaries/rda-ninth-plenary-meeting-barcelona/9th-plenary-call-sessions(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre) Follow us on Twitter - @resdatall @RDA_Europe @RDA_US and join the discussion #RDAPlenary Keep in touch on LinkedIn - www.linkedin.com/in/ResearchDataAlliance
