Applications sought for research and new technologies to link culture, education and training.
The European Commission, DG X, has called for proposals for further 'Connect' initiatives that develop connections between cultural, educational and training programmes. The European Union is supporting this in 1999, with a budget of 15 million euro. In May, DG XXII published an invitation to tender to the value of 7.5 million euro. The Commission is launching the current call for applications to fund between 20 and 75 projects to the combined value of 7.5 million euro. Projects should pursue the following objectives: - Develop links between the areas of culture, education and training with the help of research and new technologies; - Reduce existing gaps between culture and other fields, whilst encouraging innovation; - Take an active and innovative approach to introducing culture through the education and training of young people; - Encourage continuing training for artists, performers and culture professionals.
