Assessing emissions reduction programmes in the Member States
The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for a study assessing several programmes set up to reduce emissions of certain dangerous substances in the Member States. The study should provide a detailed assessment of the current status of the implementation of the programmes set up under Council Directive 76/464/EEC. The following aspects of the Member States' programmes should be therefore be considered: - Assessment and comparison of the programmes established by Member States with the provisions of Article 7 of Council Directive 76/464/EEC; - Identification of main weaknesses of the current programmes; - Identification of demonstrable examples of an appropriate implementation of programmes; - Comparison of the programmes with the provisions of the proposed water framework directive and the identification of main needs for specific technical guidance in support of Member States.
